Baton Rouge, excuse us, Effum Rouge, is home to Effum University @effumuniversity founded in 1998! Its founder, Kirk Boutte @kirkworkx, was revolutionary as one of the few African American tattoo artists who not only worked on people of color, but did so with a vibrant array of colors in a variety of styles providing high quality custom tattoos to anyone regardless of skin tone.

Now for over two decades, Effum University not only still crafts incredible tattoos, but it is a second home to the whole Baton Rouge community, and it serves to educate artists on crafting amazing tattoos on every skin.
